I'm going to write a novel in a weekend. Yes, that's a big challenge for a writer in training, but I'm going to give it my best shot. No, it won't be perfect. It'll be a piece of crap. That's okay though, I'm not aiming for perfection. As long as my fingers are dancing on the keyboard for two days, I'll be happy. I have a story idea in my head already, so I'm ready to start writing. I'm going to start writing Saturday morning, and won't stop until Sunday night before I turn in for the night.

This writer in training is going for the gold, this weekend.

The Bee and the Book

I came up with an idea for a children's story on my way home from work the other day. I was walking home since it was a gorgeous day out. The walk also gave me the chance to survey the damage from the wind storms we had over the weekend. Trying my best to ignore the pain of a bee sting that I received earlier, I got this idea in my head for a children's book. By the time I got home, my book was finished. Well, in my head, anyway.

I didn't waste any time. As soon as I walked in the door, I turned on the computer and wrote my story. No, it's not ready to send off to a publisher, yet. It still has some revisions. I was pretty proud of myself though. I didn't wait until later to write the story down. I'm quite the procrastinator.

It's just weird. I really don't understand where my idea came from. It was one of those things that made me say, Oh! Maybe I have the bee to thank? I never did like them.

A Little Something I Wrote

This is just a little piece that I wrote a while back..

It was a reunion of sorts. For some, it was a first time meeting with people they only knew by their words and photos. Finally after weeks, months, and even years, aquanitances, friends, and enemies, were able to see each others faces in the flesh for the first time. It was like seeing a long lost relative again. Hugs, and hand shakes filled the room followed by laughter, and the occasional screech of joy as friends finally get a chance to look into each others faces. The mystery of ones apperance is revealed. The voice which was once mute, was a musical note to anothers ears. The fantasy of meeting a friend that they never have seen, became reality.
Some stood in the shadows not knowing what to think of the situation, scared to think what others might think of them. Pondering on the thought that maybe the expectations of them might be a little off the scale. Still, the scared are glad to be there. Seeing everyone for the first time is a high for them, inhaling one person at a time. Taking in the image of each person and making a note in their memory for future use, for when they get the nerve to come from behind the shadows.
For me, it was like I've know everyone for years. There wasn't a face or a voice I didn't recognize. It was like I met them before. I already knew everything I could about most of them. Through their words on the computer screen, I knew their personalities. I got to know what makes them tick, and what causes them to get angry as hell. I got to know their strenghts and weaknesses, which always good to know for a first time meeting.

Making it to the Finish Line

I've never been able to finish what I have started. That's one of my worst qualities. A writer in training can never quit. You stop writing for one day, and you might as well throw the keyboard out the window. Drain the ink from the pen. Take those blank journals and sell them to a book consignment shop...okay, maybe I'm being a little too dramatic. Trust me though, I know what I'm talking about. I've started many different projects. I would miss a day and off I would go doing other things, forgetting what my original project was. Boredom plays a big part, as well. I tend to get bored easily.

I love to write, so boredom won't be an issue during this journey. Discipline is what I need. I need to make myself go to the computer at least once a day, for ten minutes or more a day, and write. No matter how busy, or tired I get. It's the only way to cure that nasty habit of mine. I know my training will be a long journey for me, but I made a promise to myself that I would finish this journey. I made a promise to finish what I have already started.

Introducing the Writer in Training

Growing up, I use to draw cartoons. Every character had a hat, and usually there was always a dog, with the head of the best snoopy I could draw. I never did have the conversation bubbles. I created "silent" cartoons. I wasn't into writing much as a child. My interest of wanting to create with pen and paper came to me as an adult. Now I wish I would have had that urge sooner, or had Mary Higgins Clark for a mother.

I joined a writing site a few years ago. I mostly wrote poems...Oh, and just for the record, I'm not to keen on poetry of any style. Writing, or reading poetry, for that matter, just wasn't my thing. Still isn't. I did start a story about my grandparents, but just like the poetry it was short-lived. I discovered blogging. I still have a blog on another site that I started two years ago. I mostly write journal entries. It's been great practice for a writer in training. I was the wannabe (shudders) at first, but as I wrote more and more, and made friends with others writers, I discovered that my desire to be a writer was more than what a wannabe (shudders again) would ever get out of it. I now have two articles online, and write every day. Not only do I write online, but with pen and paper, as well.

English was my best subject in school. You wouldn't know it now. There are so many rules about grammar and style, that I have forgotten over the years. I am hopefull that someday my words will have my readers asking for more.

For now, I am a writer in training.
